What Were The Captain Lord Mansion 2013 Winter Renovations?

What is new for 2013 at The Captain Lord Mansion, A Romantic Kennebunkport Bed & Breakfast Inn?  We have been very active making small and large changes to a number of the rooms in order to make each even more enjoyable than before.  Let us share with you our winter renovations and redecorating!

We went through each room and removed any extranious items which frankly seemed to be just so much clutter!

The first major renovation took place in January; we added a new tiled shower with hydro-massage body jets to the Mary Lord bath. In fact, Bev did the tiling herself aided by David Hutchins, our maintenance man.

Additionally, our redecorating included the following: Mary Lord received new, thick carpeting and a new upholstered desk chair.  New multi-drawer night stands replaced the antique dresser.  The carpeting softens and quiets the room and removing the large chest-of-drawers gives the whole room much more living space.  We did much the same in the Callender Room; we had new deep-pile carpeting installed and exchanged two large end tables for two smaller ones to give the room more open space.  More changes include two, beautiful, upholstered arm chairs which we placed in Lincoln and we added one in Harvest too.  Continuing with our attention to new decor, we added a new, smaller love-seat and chair in Champion.  By removing the larger pieces of furniture which had been in the room, we created a more spacious area in front of the fireplace.

We didn’t forget the Captain’s Garden House either!  New plush carpets were installed in Nathaniel and the Gathering room there.  Additonally, we removed and replaced several worn upholstered pieces with new ones.  We exchanged a comfortable easy-chair for the worn love-seat in Nathaiel; that opened the room and gives more living space.

Our intent has been to create better eye-appeal as you enter each guest room and then combine that great look with more comfortable living spaces and less clutter.

We think you’ll love the changes. Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield
