Where can you enjoy Summer Stock Theater in Kennebunkport?

The answer to that puzzling question is the Arundel Barn PlayhouseArundel barn playhouse in Kennebunkport This wonderful iconic piece of Maine culture is located on the Kennebunkport-Arundel border, just a five minute drive from the inn.  It is an original Maine barn which has been converted to a summer playhouse.  The seats are quite comfortable and none are too far from the stage, which makes for an engaging and up-close evening of theater.  Bev and I have attended plays there almost every summer since it opened 11 years ago.  We just went to see “Babes in Hollywood”, a musical tribute to the lives of Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney. Of course, we are old enough to remember some of their great tunes such as “You Made Me Love You” and “That’s Entertainment”, but everyone knows the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz” movie.  It was Judy’s signature song.  The engaging cast, though very youthful, gave an energetic and heartfelt performance.  Babesinhollywood If you are coming to join us at the Captain Lord Mansion for a summer visit, we can secure great seats for you.  Rick Litchfield, Your innkeeper
