Welcome to the Captain Lord Mansion! It was a cold, but bright sunny day on March 17th, 1978, when we first came to Kennebunkport. As we crossed the bridge into Dock Square, we were greeted by a solitary seagull sitting on the bridge railing. In the distance we saw the steeple of the Congregational Church. Seagulls and church steeples are icons of coastal New England villages! As we traveled along Ocean Ave., we were awed by the old homes and buildings situated along the river. Turning onto Green Street, we caught our first glimpse of the magnificent building that is the inn. We’ll never forget our first impression: Wow! We were impressed both with the size and the setting of the Mansion, which sits at the head of the sweeping lawn known locally as the “River Green”. As you tour our B&B in pictures, we invite you to experience the warmth, serenity and beauty that is the Captain Lord Mansion today.
