What is Maple Sugaring Sunday in Maine?

Maple Sugaring Sunday in Maine is Sunday, March 23, 2014. There are many small tree farms only a short drive from the Captain Lord Mansion.  We encourage guests to visit one of these sugaring operations in order to see how the tree sap is boiled down to make that rich golden syrup most of us enjoy over our pancakes, on waffles and over ice cream.  I remember the first time I saw sugaring; I was amazed at how much tree sap is required to produce such a small quantity of syrup. I also learned about grading the syrup. It is an educational and enjoyable vacation activity.  Hope you will join us at the Captain Lord Mansion that weekend.
