Paintings of the Captain Lord Mansion

romantic maine coast bed and breakfast paintingDuring the 35 years we have been keepers of the inn here at the Captain Lord Mansion, we’ve had the privilege of having several of our guests do paintings of our romantic Maine Coast Bed and Breakfast Inn.  Here is one just recently received from one of our Texas guests.  Bev and I want to thank her for sharing a photo of her painting and it is pictured here.  Additionally, the Captain Lord Mansion has been the subject of paintings by very famous American artists.  There is a beautiful painting by Willard Metcalf which is in the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, CT.  It was painted sometime in the early 1900′s and features the large Elm trees which used to flank the building.  Unfortunately, many years ago, we lost the trees to the Dutch Elm disease.  However, the town planted Maple trees as replacements and one of those Maple trees is depicted in our guests painting of our romantic Maine Coast Bed and Breakfast Inn.  Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield
