Bev Davis and husband Rick Litchfield are celebrating their 35th Anniversary as keepers of the inn! 35 years ago, as a young couple fresh from the corporate world of advertising, they closed on their purchase of the Captain Lord Mansion on June 15th, 1978. Bev was a Regional Advertising Manager for McDonald’s Corporation, employed in their Albany office covering all of upstate New York. Rick had been employed as an Account Manager with Madison North, a small advertising agency in Schenectady, NY. One of his client’s was McDonald’s Corp. and the McDonald’s Restaurants in the Capital District market; that was how Bev and Rick met! Bev, as Ad Manager, was effectively Rick’s boss; and nothing much has changed! However, they each have their own areas of expertise and blend their work very well together. Bev does the decorating (including the tiling), gardening and supervises the food preparation while Rick supervises the office staff, maintains the website and does the social marketing. He is also involved in Community Service, currently serving as President of the Kennebunkport Historical Society Board of Directors.
Who knew that we would spend the next 35 years of our lives, raising two children, being involved in the Kenneubnkport community and creating one of the most heralded and romantic bed & breakfast inns in New England. We certainly did not! We have been blessed with good health and we love our work; thus, we hope to remain as innkeepers for many more years. God willing! Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield
