Did You Know The Maine Maritime Museum is Close to Kennebunkport?

Often, when the weather is inclement, guests at the Captain Lord Mansion or our Captain’s Garden House are searching for indoor activities. I believe that one of the best activities on a rainy summer day in Maine is to visit one of the many nearby history or art museums which are located in Southern Maine.  The Maine Maritime Museum is close to Kennebunkport and a visit there will consume the greater part of an afternoon .  Bev and I enjoy visiting this excellent history museum which is located in Bath, Maine and Bath is less than an hour’s drive north of Kennebunkport.  This museum features historical documents, ship models, nautical items, paintings and all things relating to Maine’s maritime history.  Additionally, there is a very interesting exhibit relating to lobster harvesting.  It is sponsored by L.L. Bean.  So, if you are looking for a way to while-away a non-sunny afternoon, please allow us to direct you north to Bath and the Maine Maritime Museum!  Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield
