Where Can You Find Works by Edgar Degas Near the Captain Lord Mansion?

The Portland Museum of Art is featuring a current exhibit titled “Edgar Degas: The Private Impressionist”, which is comprised of more than 70 drawings, prints, pastels, photographs and sculptures. This exhibit runs from February 23 through May 28th, 2012.  Edgar Degas was a 19th century French master who not only was renowned as an artist, but also as an engraver, print maker, photographer and prolific collector of other artist’s works.  Bev and I recently attended this show and were amazed at the extensive diversity of Degas’ work.  We were familiar with his paintings; however, his other work is extremely varied and richly detailed. This is a picture of Bev and I in one of the museum’s galleries; we could not show any of the work on exhibit. So, this is just us!  If you visit the Captain Lord Mansion, we can give you discount admission coupons so that you might visit this exhibit. Additionally, the Museum has a number of other galleries with very beautiful paintings and sculptures. Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield
