Kennebunk’s Architectural Heritage :: Brick Store Museum

WindowsOnThePast_sm The Brick Store Museum, a local Kennebunk art and history museum recently published “Windows on the Past: An Illustrated Guide to Kennebunk’s History through Architecture”.  This beautiful four-color, 62 page booklet was written by Rosalind Magnuson and edited by Tracy Baetz.

Quoting from the foreword; “This publication represents the first to combine color photography, a time line, a locator map, a glossary, an index, a bibliography of additional resources, architectural details, the sociocultural context of the properties and images of related collections from the Brick Store Museum.”

Bev and I have purchased a number of these books for use by guests at the Captain Lord Mansion.  They may borrow a booklet from our office in order to do a walking tour of Summer Street, Kennebunk.  There are 42 buildings described in the book, so in addition to a walking tour, there is also the possibility to drive-by some of the outlying structures.

If you wish to take home a copy of the book, we have them for sale in our gift shop at $14.95. Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield
