The lovely village of Ogunquit (o-gun-quit) is a short drive south of Kennebunkport along coastal Route 1. It offers a terrific place to make a day-trip excursion from the Captain Lord Mansion. There is a beautiful cliff walk called "Marginal Way" that begins in picturesque Perkins Cove. The path is paved and meanders up and down along the jagged coast with wonderful views of the ocean. It is almost mesmerizing watching the waves surge again and again over the steep rocks. Perkins Cove is home to several fine restaurants including world famous "Barnacle Billy's". You can watch lobster boats coming and going from the secluded harbor and view the boats in the harbor from the scenic footbridge (drawbridge). You'll also find small boutiques and galleries hidden at the end of the Cove. Traffic is congested, so park outside of the Cove and take the short walk into the bustling area of shops, restaurants and artist booths. You'll find the entrance to Marginal Way directly across the street from Barnacle Billy's.
